Germany: Storm 'Friederike' causes train cancellations in West Germany

Deutsche Bahn (DB) cancelled train services in the German State of North Rhine Westphalia, due to expected gale force winds from Storm 'Friederike' on Thursday.

Footage from Bonn shows numerous street signs blown over, the closure of certain establishments, and train passengers facing serious delays and even cancellations.

The storm has already caused numerous disturbances across the Netherlands and West Germany as trains and flights have been cancelled, delayed, or forced to reduce speeds as a precaution against the high winds.

DB has advised all travellers to look up the status of their train on the company's website before starting their journey.
