Spain: Demonstrators enter Ciutadella Park after breaking police cordon

Demonstrators entered Ciutadella Park in Barcelona, the location of the Catalan Parliament, after a police cordon was broken near the park’s gates during a rally on Tuesday.

Pro-Catalan independence demonstrators were seen entering through one of the park’s gates, carrying Estelada flags and masks of former Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont.

Demonstrators had participated in a rally in support of the inauguration of Puigdemont as next regional president.

Earlier on Tuesday, Catalan parliament speaker Roger Torrent announced the postponement of the vote for a new regional president and said that former Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont "has the right" to be the next leader.
