Florida shooting: Protesters call for lawmakers to do more to control firearms

Some students and a handful of other protesters in Florida took a public stand against gun violence and for gun control on Feb. 16. The shooting at the Douglas Stoneman High School on Feb. 14 was one of the deadliest school shootings in US history, leaving 17 people dead and 15 currently injured. The shooter, Nikolas Cruz, a 19-year–old former student who had been expelled from the school, has been arrested and questioned in court. It is reported that there have been 1827 people killed in mass shootings since the start of 2018 in the US.
