Iran: 66 killed after Iranian passenger plane crashes near Semirom

Sixty-six people were killed after an ATR 72 Aseman Airlines flight from Tehran to the city of Yasuj crashed on Sunday in a mountainous area near the town of Semirom.

The plane crashed after disappearing from a flight radar on Sunday morning, killing all 59 passengers and crew members.

Relatives of the victims gathered at Yasuj Airport in the hope of receiving more information.

"My sister was on that plane," said a young woman in tears.

According to media reports, several helicopters have been deployed to the crash site near Padena mountain.
