Israel: Emergency services begin clearing Israeli F-16 debris

Emergency services started clearing the wreckage of an Israeli F-16 jet which was shot down by Syrian anti-aircraft fire near the village of Harduf on Saturday, according to Israeli forces.

It appears that authorities have closed a road nearby as the area is placed on lockdown while investigators gather evidence.

Spokesperson and Head of Social Media for the Israeli Defence Force Jonathan Conricus said on Twitter that Israel recently intercepted an Iranian drone entering its territory from Syria.

Conricus also tweeted that the IDF is striking "numerous" Syrian and Iranian military targets in Syria, "in response to Iranian aggression".

The IDF claimed on its Twitter account that "anti-aircraft missiles were fired towards Israel, triggering alarms in northern Israel."
