Kenya: Protesters clash with police, demand opposition leaders’ release

Protesters clashed with police in Nairobi on Tuesday as they gathered to demand the release of imprisoned lawyer Miguna Miguna and opposition MP TJ Kajwang.

Police fired tear gas on protesters as they demonstrated in front of the Milimani High Court.

"Justice denied is justice delayed," one protester said.

On February 6, opposition leader Raila Odinga swore himself as the 'people's president' during a mock inauguration ceremony in Nairobi, as a protest against the official leader President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Several opposition politicians who attended were arrested at the event.

The self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) General, Miguna Miguna, was arrested on Friday morning after police reportedly raided his house in Nairobi, causing a chain of protests all over city.
