State of Palestine: Man scarred by Israeli army dog recounts attack

Mabruk Jarrar said he was at home with his family near the city of Jenin in the West Bank when a large explosion rocked his house during a raid by Israeli Defence Forces on Feb 3.

During the raid he was attacked by an army dog, biting him on his leg and shoulder. "After I was bleeding for more than 2 hours and a half, they took me to the hospital," Jarrar said speaking from hospital on Saturday.

Mabruk Jarrar said "They attacked my home and frightened my children and my wife," adding "they arrested my brothers and one of them is still in detention.”

Mabruk Jarrar’s wife, Enas Shteiwi, said that the incident "psychologically affected" her and her family members. She now has to stay with her husband in the hospital to support him.

Jarrar and his family were caught up in raids carried out by the Israeli army in response to the killing of an Israeli settler in a drive-by shooting near Nablus last month.
