Border city goes far in poverty reduction drive

Zhou Yijue, mayor of Baise and a deputy to the 13th National People’s Congress, talks about his city’s efforts and achievements in eliminating poverty. Bordering Vietnam, the city in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has a population of about four million, most of whom are the Zhuang ethnic group. Thanks to the support from the central government, it has lifted 320,000 people out of poverty over the past two years.
