Brazilian ex-president Lula to begin serving 12-year prison term for corruption

Brazil's former president, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, is now in police custody. He surrendered over the objections of supporters, who had blocked him from leaving a labor union office outside Sao Paulo. Lula had been barricaded inside since Thursday, when he was ordered to begin serving a 12-year prison term for corruption.
