Iran: 'A major crime' - Khamenei slams US-led airstrikes on Syria

"This morning’s attack on Syria is a crime. I firmly declare that the Presidents of U.S. and France and British Prime Minister committed a major crime," Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said addressing a crowd of national and international guests in a ceremony celebrating the birthday of the Holy Prophet of Islam in Tehran on Saturday.

Khamenei also heavily criticised Saudi Arabia saying, "How low must a nation fall to be robbed of its money and be called a milking cow."

Khamenei remarks came after the US, UK and France launched airstrikes against multiple government targets in Damascus early on Saturday morning, targeting alleged chemical weapons sites as well as a Syrian military base in Homs.c

The airstrikes are a response to a claim of a supposed chemical weapons attack on Douma last week. Syria and Russia have both denied the allegations, calling them 'staged' and a 'fabrication.'
