Modernization of the Chinese navy

President Xi Jinping oversaw the Chinese Navy’s largest-ever military parade in the South China Sea on Thursday. More than 10,000 service personnel took part in the marine review, along with 76 aircraft and 48 ships, including the aircraft carrier Liaoning and the latest models of submarines. What are the highlights of this military display? Why does President Xi emphasized the urgency of building a world-class navy?
